What's Crisol de Cuerda?
Crisol de Cuerda is a fiddle camp that takes place every summer in Arlanzón, near the city of Burgos, during the first week of August. Over seven days, around a hundred musicians of different levels and backgrounds come together to share an experience centered on folk and traditional music, played on instruments such as violin, cello, flute, and guitar. Guided by top-tier artists from the national and international folk scene, each year we immerse ourselves in this experience through the music of different cultures, approached in a playful and hands-on way.
Crisol is an environment where music lovers share their passion for tradition and innovation — a welcoming musical community that encourages experimentation and the self-discovery of the voice we each carry within, expressed through the instruments of fiddle culture.
The Crisol Spirit, our philosophy
Crisol is built on the pillars of creativity and freedom. There is no room here for competition or judgment: each person progresses at their own pace, without comparison, with the sole goal of enjoying themselves and connecting with others through music and dance.
Our aim is to build a community around music — a space where musicians of different levels, backgrounds, and origins can meet and learn from one another, exchanging repertoire, experiences, and perspectives. An environment where technical differences will never be a barrier to enjoying and playing together.
We also care for our own musical heritage and value that of those who come from afar, exploring the music that forms part of our tradition and asking ourselves what place it holds today in how we understand life and ourselves. Beyond simply playing melodies and chords, Crisol offers a space to reflect on our cultural identity and on the role music plays as a meeting point between people in an increasingly globalized world shaped by the immediacy of technology.
